San Diego weather: Santa Anas decreasing, rain chances next week

This hot dry weather pattern is peaking today, and then some slow cooling is on the way.

Temperatures in the upper 80s to low 90s have been recorded all over the county today. We’ve hit a few high temps that will break daily records for today once the official daily numbers come out.

Santa Ana winds are peaking today as well. The strongest so far was an 84mph gust up on Sill Hill. A handful of other mountain weather stations have recorded gusts between 60-70mph. The dry, offshore winds spread west of the mountains today. Multiple inland areas recorded gusts stronger than 40mph.

The WIND ADVISORY will stay in effect until noon on Thursday, but winds are not expected to be as strong tonight or tomorrow.

Temperatures will begin slowly cooling on Thursday, and clouds will increase. The cooling continues Friday. We have a pleasant weekend on the way with temperatures still running just slightly above normal.

Bigger changes are coming for next week. Cooler temperatures and rain chances arrive by Tuesday.
