South Florida in Milan: What's Sophia following today at the 2026 Winter Olympics?
Buongiorno from Milan! It’s Sophia Hernandez, multiplatform reporter with NBC6 covering the 2026 Winter Olympics!
It’s starting to feel more like Miami than Milan with this rainfall… but I can tell you it’s not stopping the thousands of people from enjoying the city before the Opening Ceremony on Friday!
And from here to then, there’s a lot happening.
For instance, Americans will be watching three-time Olympic medalist Lindsey Vonn, who says she is still planning to ski after tearing her left ACL in a crash last week at the Alpine Ski World Cup in Switzerland.
And, two Florida athletes will be Team USA’s flagbearers: speedskater Erin Jackson and bobsledder Frank del Duca. We will most definitely be cheering them on and keeping our eyes peeled to catch them front and center at the Opening Ceremony.
Speaking of athletes – training to compete at the Olympics is no easy feat. How do I know? Well, I tried it out for myself, just so you could watch me go head-to-head with Olympic athletes later today on our newscast.
That’s all for now. Subscribe to our newsletter to get these updates straight to your inbox.
