AC unit sparks apartment fire in Hollywood: Authorities
An air conditioning unit sparked an apartment fire in Hollywood on Wednesday morning, according to fire rescue.
Firefighters responded to the fire at an apartment building in the 2700 block of Johnson Street at around 5:48 a.m.
Crews said flames were coming from an AC unit on the second floor at the rear of the building.
Hollywood Fire Rescue said the fire extended into the apartment, but was quickly extinguished.
No one was in the apartment and injuries were not reported, authorities said. A firefighter, meanwhile, was transported to the hospital for observation.
It was not immediately clear if the cold had anything to do with why the unit caught fire.
