Jefferson Health to cut 1% of workforce due to ‘financial headwinds'

Jefferson Health is cutting its workforce.

The Philadelphia-based health system announced the implementation of “targeted workforce reductions,” which will affect approximately 1% of its total employees, impacting over 600 people.

“Like many organizations in health care and higher education, we are facing significant financial headwinds. To sustain our mission and continue serving our communities, we must take thoughtful, strategic actions to align our operations for the future,” said Joseph Cacchione, MD, Chief Executive Officer at Jefferson Health.

Cacchione added, “While these decisions are never easy, they are necessary to ensure Jefferson remains strong and able to invest in expanding access to care, advancing innovation, and supporting those who rely on us most.”
