Man with ‘history of violence' escapes custody after DUI arrest, police say
Police in Phoenixville are warning residents to be on the lookout after a man — who officials said is sought on multiple arrest warrants and has “a history of violence” — escaped from police custody while being taken to the Phoenixville Hospital on Saturday morning.
According to police, the incident happened at about 6:59 a.m. on Saturday when Jairo Eliazar Ramirez-Lima, who was being transported to Phoenixville Hospital following an arrest for a suspected DUI incident, fled from the hospital’s grounds.
Police officials said Ramirez-Lima escaped custody at the hospital’s campus and was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt, white or light gray sweatpants, black sneakers and handcuffs.
In a statement on social media, police officials warned that Ramirez-Lima has a “history of violence” and weapon offenses and he has several warrants out for his apprehension — including federal ICE detainers.
Police said there is no known active threat to the public but they warned residents that Ramirez-Lima should be considered dangerous.
Anyone who thinks they have encountered Ramirez-Lima is warned to avoid contact.
An investigation into this incident is ongoing and, police said, they will provide more details when possible.
Police officials are asking anyone who may have information on this incident to contact the East Pikeland Township Police Department 610-935-0606 immediately, or dial 9-1-1.
