Man arrested in connection with shooting that left 1 dead, 1 hurt in Fallbrook
A man was arrested after allegedly shooting two people during an altercation in Fallbrook, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said Tuesday.
Deputies responded Monday night to the 3800 block of East Mission Road and found two men with gunshot wounds.
One man died from his injuries at the scene and another was taken to the hospital for treatment and released, SDSO said. The deceased has not yet been identified, pending family notification.
The night of the incident, detectives said one person was detained at the scene for questioning.
On Tuesday, SDSO announced Fallbrook resident Michael Burke was arrested in connection to the incident and was booked into the Vista Detention Facility on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.
The investigation is ongoing as officials try to determine the motive behind the incident.
Detectives said it appears to be an isolated incident and there is no known threat to the community.
