Rain and gusty winds to hit San Diego County this week

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Rain and gusty winds are moving into San Diego County at the beginning of the week.
Rain is forecast to move into Southern California Monday night and into Tuesday morning, ending Tuesday night. Winds will pick up to around 30-40 mph starting late Monday night, NWS reports, as a low-pressure system brings in colder air, showers and high-elevation snow.
NWS estimates that San Diego will receive less than 0.25 inch of rain, with a more than 50% chance of rain forecast for most of the county on Tuesday.
The low pressure system will bring in gusty winds to the county, with the highest gusts in the mountains and deserts. Gusts exceeding 55 miles per hour are possible at times in the deserts, according to KUSI futurecast models.
The heaviest rain will fall across the San Bernardino and Riverside mountains and the LA basin, according to NWS. Lighter amounts are forecast to fall across San Diego County and desert areas.
By Wednesday, the county will begin to dry out and warm up. However, temperatures will remain below average for this time of year. Expect a chilly morning on Wednesday as the system departs.
Next weekend, the warming continues inland while marine layer clouds and fog return to the coastal areas, NWS forecasts.
