Fire damages restaurant and brewery in Philly's Roxborough neighborhood

A fire damaged a brewery and restaurant in Philadelphia’s Roxborough neighborhood early Thursday morning.

The fire started around 7 a.m. at a building along the 6100 block of Ridge Avenue that houses two residential apartments as well as New Ridge Brewing Company, according to Jax Cusack, the Executive Director of the Roxborough Development Corporation, which owns the property.

Cusack told NBC10 no injuries were reported.

“We extend our sincere thanks to the Philadelphia Fire Department for their swift and effective response,” Cusack wrote.

Connor Hart works at Flying Sowth Coffee, which is across the street from New Ridge Brewing Company, and shared cellphone video with NBC10 showing the fire before it was placed under control.

“I mean, really just hoping it wasn’t in the apartments. I know this is really residential and connected,” Hart said. “As someone who has lived in an apartment complex, that’s a big fear you have, I feel like. That spread.”

Officials have not yet revealed the cause of the fire or the extent of the damage.
