Bus driver arrested while transporting students Friday, letter to parents says

A bus driver driving elementary students home in Berks County was stopped and taken into custody on Friday afternoon, according to a letter sent to parents from the Boyertown Area School District.

The school district explained that a bus driver from the Quigley Bus Service was on the drop off route for elementary school students on Feb. 6 when their bus was stopped by law enforcement.

The driver was taken into custody and the students who were on the bus were moved onto a new bus to be taken home, superintendent Dr. Scott Davidheiser said.

“The safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority. We are cooperating fully with law enforcement and are in close contact with Quigley Bus Service as they conduct their internal review,” the Boyertown School District wrote in the letter sent to parents.

According to the school district, the bus driver will not be driving for Boyertown ever again.

Dr. Davidheiser explained that counselors and administrators are available to help any children who need support or have questions in light of this incident.

For parents who have any concerns or questions, the superintendent said to contact the district office or the principal of the school where your child is a student.
