San Diego weather: High Surf Advisory continues, mild temperatures

HEADLINES:

  1. COOLER FRIDAY
  2. HIGH SURF
  3. PLEASANT WEEKEND
  4. RAIN CHANCES NEXT WEEK

SUMMARY

A HIGH SURF ADVISORY will remain in place at the coast through 6 a.m. Sunday. Wave heights could reach 5-9 ft. with local sets up to 10 ft. There will also be a high rip current risk.

The afternoon temperatures will be mild and comfortable, and weak Santa Ana winds will continue over our mountains with wind gusts up to 30mph. By Sunday, expect warmer and drier conditions with daytime highs trending about 10-15 degrees above seasonal averages. This means we will likely have daytime highs in the 80s over our valleys.

By Monday, onshore flow will return, and a trough of low pressure will bring slightly cooler temperatures. The cooler conditions will continue through the rest of the week with rain chances on Tuesday through Thursday; however, certain models are showing the best chance for any rain will be on Thursday.  This system doesn’t look like a huge rainmaker for us, but I am seeing some potential for more rain the following week. More details to come!
