Boy injured in shooting near high school in Northeast Philly
A boy was injured in a shooting that, officials said, happened near a high school in Northeast Philadelphia on Wednesday.
According to police, the boy was shot in the hip in a shooting that happened at about 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of Rowland and Sheffield avenues near Pennypack Park and Abraham Lincoln High School in the Mayfair section of Northeast Philly.
The boy – who police did not immediately provide further identifying information on – was taken to a nearby hospital where he was listed in stable condition.
Also, as of about 12:30 p.m., police did not provide information on what led to the incident or name any suspected shooters that may have been involved.
In a letter to families of students at Abraham Lincoln High School, it was announced that the school was placed on a lock-in in collaboration with the police department.
No arrests have been made yet and the investigation into this incident is ongoing.
