2 dogs, bird killed in fire that tore through Bucks Co. home overnight

A fire at a home in Fairless Hills, Bucks County, on Saturday night left two dogs and a bird dead, officials said.

According to fire officials with the Fairless Hills Fire Department, the deadly fire began at about 9:45 p.m. on Saturday night at a home along Auburn Road in Fairless Hills.

First responders to the incident found the property “fully engulfed” in flames officials said.

However, the occupants of the home were not at the property when the fire began, officials said. They returned, according to fire officials, a short time later.

Also, officials said two dogs and a bird were killed in the flames. No other injuries were reported.

The home belonged to Scott Diethorne, known locally as “Santa Scott,” for his frequent performances as Santa Claus during the holiday season.

In a video he posted on social media, Diethorne said his home was “gutted” by the flames.

“We lost everything,” he says in the emotional video.

Diethorne also asked anyone waiting for him to perform in November to reach out to him or his family, because he lost some information in the fire.

Early investigation shows that the fire appears to have started in the attic, but, officials said, an investigation in to this incident is ongoing.
