San Diego experienced a year of wildfires, ICE raids, plane crashes, and protests, with the most notable events being the Gilman Fire, Border 2 Fire, and Lilac Fire, as well as the ICE operations, U.S. Navy jet crash, and protests against mass deportations, and in December, the City of San Diego agreed to pay $30 million to the family of Konoa Wilson, a 16-year-old boy who was fatally shot by a police officer, in one of the largest settlements in a police killing case in U.S. history.
