A woman was struck and killed by a tree at Hibernia County Park in Chester County, Pennsylvania, over the weekend.

On Sunday, Oct. 12, Pam Dean, 67, was visiting the park, located along Park Road in Coatesville. As Dean walked along the park’s Rim Trail, she was struck by a falling tree, officials said.

Responding park rangers rendered aid to Dean until paramedics arrived. She was then taken to Paoli Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

A spokesperson said Dean frequently visited the park and was a member of the Hibernia Hiking Club.

“Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her during this difficult time,” the spokesperson wrote. “We are working closely with County officials to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.”
