Woman struck, killed by NJ Transit train near Absecon, officials say
Service on New Jersey Transit’s Atlantic City Rail Line was suspended on Christmas Eve after a woman was struck and killed by a train, officials said.
The NJ Transit train had left the Atlantic City Terminal at 6:54 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 24 and was headed to Philadelphia’s 30th Street Station. Shortly after 7 p.m., an unidentified woman trespassed on the tracks near Absecon, New Jersey, officials said. The woman was then struck and killed by the train.
Officials said none of the 30 passengers and crew on board the train were hurt. Service on the Atlantic City Rail Line was suspended in both directions between Atlantic City and Egg Harbor City.
NJ Transit buses and PATCO are cross honoring rail tickets and passes for customers.
NJ Transit Police are currently investigating the incident.
