Woman killed while crossing street in North Philly hit-and-run, police say

A 63-year-old woman was struck and killed while crossing in a crosswalk at a North Philadelphia intersection on Friday night, police said.

The hit-and-run occurred at around 8:56 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 19, at the intersection of Whitaker Avenue and Wyoming Avenue, police said.

The woman — who has not yet been identified — was crossing a crosswalk on Wyoming Avenue when a 2012 white Infiniti M37 traveling northbound on Whitaker Avenue struck her, police said.

According to police, the driver looked at the woman after striking her before fleeing northbound on Whitaker Avenue.

The car allegedly involved in the incident has been found by police, but the driver remains unknown and on the loose, police said.
