Woman dies in Southwest Philly crash involving SEPTA bus, police say
A woman was killed and another person is in critical condition after a car crashed into the back of a SEPTA bus on Wednesday afternoon, police said.
The crash occurred in the area of Island Avenue and Buist Avenue in the city’s Eastwick neighborhood at around 4:18 p.m., police said.
According to police, a 2019 Honda HRV crashed into the back of a SEPTA bus, and then a black Jeep Compass crashed into the back of the Honda.
All three vehicles were driving northbound on Island Avenue at the time of the crash, police said.
The driver of the Jeep was uninjured, but the driver of the Honda was taken to the hospital in critical condition and a woman, who was a passenger in that vehicle, was pronounced at 5:20 p.m., police said.
Two injuries were also reported on the SEPTA bus, which was operating on the T5 Line, a spokesperson from the agency told NBC10.
The identities of those involved have not been released and the crash remains under investigation by the Philadelphia Police Department’s Crash Investigation Unit.
