Wildwood's iconic Ferris wheel is coming down — but only temporarily

The Wildwood boardwalk will soon look a little different.

The giant Ferris wheel at Morey’s Piers is set to be removed over the fall and winter for what officials call “an extensive refurbishment project.”

Crews plan to take it apart piece by piece to inspect and then restore the iconic ride.

Officials said the Ferris wheel should be back up and running before the start of the 2026 season, which unfortunately means there will be no Christmas show displayed on the wheel this winter.

When it does reopen, officials said visitors can expect the same breathtaking views and perhaps some new surprises.

The giant wheel, standing approximately 156 feet tall, was first installed in 1985 and has since been a prominent feature of the Wildwood skyline.
