What's closed on Veterans Day in San Diego?

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- In observance of Veterans Day, City of San Diego offices and several public facilities will be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 11, city officials announced. Regular operations will resume on Wednesday, Nov. 12.

Below is a breakdown of what’s open and closed during the holiday:

What’s closed

  • All city administrative offices
  • City libraries, swimming pools, and recreation centers
  • Public buildings in Balboa Park, including the Botanical Building, Municipal Gym, Morley Field, and the Balboa Park Activity Center
    • Visitors should check with individual museums and attractions for specific holiday hours
  • Reservoirs closed: Barrett, Hodges, Murray, Lower Otay, San Vicente, Sutherland, and Upper Otay
  • Tecolote Canyon Nature Center
  • Parks and Recreation Department Open Space, Permit Center, and Maintenance Assessment District offices
  • Development Services Department in-person services
    • Online services remain available for permits, inspections, payments, and enforcement requests at sandiego.gov/development-services
  • Passport services through the Office of the City Clerk
  • Personnel Department’s Testing and Fingerprinting offices
  • Your Safe Place – A Family Justice Center
    • Those in need of help related to domestic violence can call the Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-888-385-4657. Anyone in immediate danger should dial 9-1-1.
  • No street sweeping will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 11
  • Collection Services at 8353 Miramar Place (for trash and recycling container pickups)

What’s open

  • Curbside trash, recyclables, and organic waste collection will operate on a normal schedule for City of San Diego customers
    • Deliveries of new gray trash containers and removal of old black bins will continue as scheduled
  • Miramar Landfill, Greenery, Recycling Center, and Mattress Collection Site
  • El Capitan and Miramar reservoirs
  • Chollas Lake (weather permitting)
  • City golf courses (holiday rates apply)
  • Mission Trails Regional Park and Visitor Center
  • Tecolote Canyon Natural Park
  • City skate parks and plazas, including the Pacific Highlands Ranch Pump Track
  • Dog off-leash areas
  • Emergency services, including San Diego Police and Fire-Rescue crews

Residents in neighboring cities should check with their local waste haulers for possible schedule changes.

Parking

Parking meters and time restrictions will not be enforced on Tuesday, Nov. 11. This includes yellow zones and posted street sweeping routes under the City’s jurisdiction. All other parking violations will still be enforced.

Drivers are reminded that parking rules on Port of San Diego property and in other cities may differ—always check posted signage.
