What to look for in SDFC's elimination Game 3

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- What is being called the biggest day in San Diego Soccer history is taking place Sunday, Nov. 9.

Both the San Diego Wave and San Diego FC are playing in playoff games against Portland. The Wave will be playing at noon in Portland, while San Diego FC will host the Timbers in Game 3 of the first round of the MLS playoffs.

San Diego FC won Game 1 at Snapdragon Stadium by a score of 2-1. Game 2 came down to penalty kicks after the Timbers were able to score the equalizer with 10 seconds remaining in stoppage time. SDFC only made two PK's as Portland got the win.

What needs to happen in order for SDFC to win tonight and move on to the second round? According to the host of SDFC Podcast Chromaniacs, Craig Elsten, SDFC needs to score first.

"The number one thing, to be perfectly honest, is to avoid what you're watching right now. Avoid the best of five penalty kicks at the end of regulation," said Elsten. He went on to discuss the importance of the crowd.

"I really think it's a very important part of tonight's match," added Elsten. He says that when the crown is super loud, it can influence the referees to a certain degree.

Fans are being encouraged to wear blue to the game. The match starts at Snapdragon at 6 p.m.
