SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- The San Diego Wave FC are back in the postseason and ready for a high-stakes showdown against the Portland Thorns FC in the Quarterfinals of the 2025 NWSL Playoffs.
Match preview
The Wave will travel north to Providence Park in Portland, Oregon, for the match on Sunday, Nov. 9, with kickoff set for noon. Fans can catch all the action live on ABC as the Wave look to continue their strong form against the Thorns.
San Diego earned its third playoff berth in four seasons after finishing sixth in the NWSL standings with 37 points. Portland, which secured the No. 3 seed with 40 points and an 11-8-7 record, will have home-field advantage.
The Wave enter this weekend unbeaten in their last four meetings with Portland (two wins and two draws). Both of this season’s encounters ended in 1-1 draws, including their most recent match on Sept. 20 — an exciting game in which Savannah McCaskill scored her first goal of the season before the Thorns equalized late.
