WATCH: Delivery driver drops off food, then steals packages at Miami building

A delivery driver was caught on camera making an unauthorized pickup at a Miami building, stealing hundreds of dollars worth of packages, according to security.

It happened in early December at a commercial and residential building near Southwest 3rd Avenue, just west of Interstate 95.

Eduardo Bocanegra, the head of building security, said he watched the package snatching unfold on the surveillance cameras of Vintage Liquors on the first floor. He identified the suspect as an Uber Eats driver.

“[He] goes up, makes delivery, comes back down and takes all the packages,” Bocanegra said. “There was probably about $1,500 worth in packages, so he took a good amount of Christmas presents that were for the tenants.”

Bocanegra said he knows this kind of theft happens this time of year, but was surprised that a delivery driver would be behind that kind of crime.

The incident has been reported to Miami police.
