Warm weekend in San Diego; cooler days and rain to follow

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- San Diego County is warming up ahead of a cool-down that will likely bring rain to the region.

Daily highs will rise 12-17 degrees above seasonal averages for this time of year through Tuesday before cooler weather in the middle to end of the week comes with wind and rain, the National Weather Service (NWS) reports.

NWS reports dense fog is possible Saturday and Sunday night into Monday morning over higher coastal terrain.

On Sunday and Monday, areas of minor to moderate HeatRisk are expected, with the highest HeatRisk expected in the western valleys.

Winds coming out of the east and northeast are expected to gust up to 40 mph through Monday in the mountain passes. The marine layer will also be shallower.

By Thursday, the county will begin to cool down, and a chance of showers will arrive and continue through Saturday.
