Want to vote in California's special election on redistricting? You're running out of time

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- With the November special election just a few weeks away, San Diego County residents are running out of time to register to vote if they haven't done so already.
The election on Nov. 4 places the highly contested Proposition 50 on ballots for voters' consideration.
A "yes" vote on Prop. 50 would give California the power to redraw its congressional districts and give Democrats a potential advantage in the U.S. House of Representatives, countering similar efforts in other states that seek to give Republicans an advantage.
Meanwhile, voting "no" would mean the congressional district lines would stay the same.
People have until Monday, Oct. 20 to register to get a ballot in the mail. Otherwise, interested voters will need to visit the San Diego County Registrar's office in Kearny Mesa in person or visit a vote center starting Saturday, Oct. 25 to conditionally register and vote provisionally through Nov. 4.
San Diego County residents can register to vote online at sdvote.com. You will need to register to vote if you:
- are not registered in San Diego County
- recently moved
- changed your name
People who are unsure if they are registered to vote can check their registration status online on the same website.
Early voting is already available Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the Registrar of Voters office, located at 5600 Overland Ave.
