Video shows woman punching Planet Fitness employee in the face before arrest in Miami
A woman was arrested after video showed her punching a Miami Planet Fitness employee in the face and causing a scene inside and outside the gym before trying to flee, an arrest report states.
Kiara Bryant, 35, is facing two misdemeanor charges after witnesses saw her punch an employee in the face at the gym on 775 Southwest 8th Street on Dec. 12, according to Miami police.
Officers were first called to the scene in reference to a woman “running without clothing at the Planet Fitness” at around 10:11 a.m.
When they arrived, Bryant was allegedly causing a disturbance in the parking lot, yelling profanities and “attempting to fight everyone,” authorities said.

An arrest report says it began with a disturbance in the locker room. When the victim told Bryant that she could not yell inside the gym and that he would call police if she did not lower her voice or leave, she allegedly came up to his face.
The victim “pushed her back and away from him… in self-defense twice,” the arrest report describes. Bryant allegedly continued to be aggressive, balling up her fists.
Then, she went behind the staff counter, and “charged aggressively at the victim,” police said. The victim ran from Bryant, jumping out of the staff counter and back in, while she allegedly chased him, until finally she jumped the counter and punched him “repeatedly” in the nose with a closed-fist.
Authorities said Bryant then exited and tried to leave in her car, but she was confronted by several bystanders.
When officers arrived, she “spontaneously” admitted to one of them that she did go up to the victim, “got in his face and flinched at him in an aggressive manner because he told her she couldn’t be disorderly inside the gym, and then got pushed by the victim,” police said. Then she allegedly confessed that “yes she did batter the victim.”
Bryant was arrested without further incident and is accused of misdemeanor battery and disorderly conduct in an establishment.
Her bond was set at $150.
In a statement, Planet Fitness said: “The safety of our employees and members is our top priority and we have zero tolerance for violence of any kind in our clubs. We are committed to providing a safe environment. The franchise group worked closely with local police and have cancelled the member in question.”
Alecsander Kohn, an attorney of the victim, said in a statement, “Our client suffered serious harm as a result of this incident. Our firm is conducting a comprehensive investigation and will leave no stone unturned in pursuing justice and accountability for our client through all available legal remedies. At this time, it would be inappropriate to comment further.”
