Video shows ‘vessel of interest' sought in fatal Biscayne bay hit-and-run, FWC says

Authorities continued their search Friday for a boater involved in a Biscayne Bay hit-and-run that left a father dead and his son hospitalized as new video showed a “vessel of interest” in the crash, officials said.

The brief surveillance video released by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission shows the vessel that authorities said may have been involved in the Wednesday night crash.

According to the FWC, 55-year-old Davide Veglia and his 14-year-old son were on a 7-foot inflatable dinghy in the Meloy Channel near Indian Creek and Biscayne Pointe when a larger vessel hit them and kept going.

Veglia was killed and his son was hospitalized with a broken arm.

On Thursday, the FWC released photos of the vessel of interest, which was described as a dark blue boat with black bottom paint, 20–30 feet in length, with possibly four outboard motors.
