Video shows reckless E-bike rider fleeing from police in Fort Lauderdale

New video posted on social media shows a man on an electric bike driving recklessly while speeding away from a Fort Lauderdale Police officer.

The video posted by Only in Broward shows the E-bike rider fleeing on Las Olas Boulevard on Sunday.

The footage was captured by a camera attached to the rider’s helmet and shows him appearing to taunt the motorcycle officer who was trying to pull him over.

At one point, the E-bike rider jumps onto the sidewalk near Southeast 25th Avenue and approaches a couple pushing a child in a stroller.

Just a few feet behind the family, he jerks back onto Las Olas and into oncoming traffic.

Separate surveillance footage showed the officer pulled over to stop him before he once again gives chase.

And two cameras at the 7-Eleven near Southeast 16th Avenue showed the pursuit continue westbound more than a mile as the E-bike rider again goes into oncoming traffic to evade police, including a white police van that was also involved.

In the end, the E-bike rider ended up in the neighborhood just north of Las Olas. He has yet to be arrested.

Thankfully no one was injured during the incident.

Fort Lauderdale Police officials said they’re aware of the video and looking into the incident.
