Video: Sanitation Department driver plows snow at parked cars in Philly
A profanity-laced viral video shows a Sanitation Department driver plowing snow at parked vehicles while driving through Philadelphia’s Kensington neighborhood following the weekend snowstorm.
The incident occurred Monday, Jan. 26, a day after more than nine inches of snow fell on Philadelphia. The 35-second clip shows an unidentified driver plowing snow on parked vehicles as he travels down Allegheny Avenue.
“If your car look like this just go and head the f*** back in the house. Just go in the house. Ain’t no need for you to be outside today,” the driver says in the video.
He then laughs as he continues to drive past vehicles while plowing snow towards them.
“If I can’t drive, you b****** can’t drive,” the driver says before laughing again. “Happy snow day motherf*****s. We tearing this s*** up. Allegheny don’t need to go nowhere. Go in the f****** house. Go in the house!”
A person outside is then heard calling the driver an “a**hole.”
“Go in the house,” the driver replies before the video ends.
A spokesperson for the Streets Department confirmed with NBC10 that the driver in the video is a Sanitation Department employee. Carlton Williams, Director of the city’s Clean and Green initiative, also addressed the viral video in a Facebook post.
“Unfortunately, I received several reports of activity when there were drivers who intentionally buried people in their cars, often causing safety and dangerous conditions,” Williams said. “The city of Philadelphia does not tolerate this type of behavior and if it occurs, we will address it immediately.”
Residents who witness city employees intentionally burying vehicles in snow should call 311 to report it or 911 in case of emergency.
City officials have said that they identified who the driver in the viral video is and the issue is being handled internally.
