Video: Police rescue 3 teens who fell through ice in Mount Holly, NJ
Three students fell through the ice while they were walking on a frozen lake on Wednesday afternoon, according to officials with the Mount Holly Township Police Department.
This all unfolded in the afternoon on Dec. 17 at the Woolman Lake in Mount Holly, police said.
One boy was able to escape the frozen water but the two girls he was with became partially submerged up to their chests, officials reported.
Officers were able to guide the girls closer to the edge and threw them a rope that they were able to use to get out of the water, according to police.
NBC10 later obtained body camera footage of the rescue.
All three of the students were checked by first responders and then taken to a nearby hospital for further medical assistance but are expected to be okay, police said.
The Mount Holly Township Police Department urged everyone to avoid walking on bodies of water that appear frozen, because the thickness of the ice can vary and be unpredictable.
