The incident was first reported around 9:30 a.m. in the 10400 Block of Appaloosa Court. The blaze, dubbed the Cuyamaca Fire, was reported to be at a quarter of an acre with a slow rate of spread by 10 a.m.
Multiple engines were called to the scene and a helicopter was also requested to assist with response efforts if needed.
Officials issued an Evacuation Warning, urging residents in the affected area, seen in yellow on the map below, to be prepared to leave due to a potential threat to life and property. While this is not yet a mandatory order, authorities warned that conditions could worsen quickly.
Shortly before 10:30 a.m., fire officials reported that the forward rate of spread had been stopped. The Evacuation Warning was lifted at that time.
Fire crews are expected to remain on scene for a couple hours to monitor and clean up the impacted area.
No injuries were reported in connection to this incident, and no further information was immediately provided.
