Teen arrested in deadly shooting at Halloween party
CHULA VISTA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — Police have arrested an 18-year-old in connection to the Halloween party shooting that left two teens dead over the weekend.
Chula Vista Police were searching door-to-door in the neighborhood Monday looking for answers after 15-year-old Kane Roldan and 17-year-old Elias (Eli) Yanez were shot and killed during a large Halloween party at a house on East Prospect Street near Judson Way in Chula Vista late Friday night.
Police say hundreds of people were at the party when an altercation reportedly took place shortly after 11 p.m. that led to the shooting.
Chula Vista Police and the San Diego Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 18-year-old David Garcia, of National City, at 1:35 p.m. Monday near his home in connection to the murders of 17-year-old Elias Yanez of Imperial Beach and 15-year-old Kane Roldan of San Diego, Chula Vista Police report.
Officers booked Garcia into county jail where he faces murder charges.
The friends and family of Roldan held a candlelight vigil Saturday night.
Police are still asking any potential witnesses to send in their videos and pictures from that evening to help investigators with the case.
The police department said detectives arrested Garcia after an extensive investigation and information provided through San Diego County Crime Stoppers.
Chula Vista Police said there are no additional outstanding suspects at this time, but that the investigation remains active and ongoing and that additional arrests could be possible as new information develops.
