Southwest Philly crash involves car sought in carjacking case, police say

A person was seen being taken into police custody after a crash in Southwest Philly early Tuesday and, police said, the incident is tied to a carjacking investigation.
According to police, the person — who officials did not immediately provide identifying information on — was taken into police custody after two vehicles were involved in a crash at about 12:45 a.m. on Tuesday near the intersection of 66th Street and Kingsessing Avenue.
Police haven’t said if anyone was hurt in this crash, but one of the vehicles involved appeared to have been a parked car.
Officials told NBC10’s crews that the person who was taken into custody as part of an investigation into a carjacking that happened at about 9 p.m. on Monday night.
An investigation into this incident is still ongoing, police said.
