South Florida wakes up in the 40s. Here's how cold it'll get on NYE night

Bundle up South Florida, because your New Year’s Eve morning is off to a chilly start—and it’s only going to get colder.

By 7 a.m. Wednesday, most of South Florida was feeling the 40s. The Florida Keys are substantially warmer, since the north wind is still a wind that travels over water, so the 50s and low-60s are holding on for dear life across that area.

And the wind is certainly its own story as well. Wind chills are in the upper-20s just to our north. Gusty winds to 20 mph+ are also responsible for a small craft advisory on Wednesday.

How cold will it be on New Year’s Eve night?

Highs will struggle to get into the upepr-60s on New Year’s Eve (a good 10 degrees below average) and then we make yet another run at the 40s overnight.

For those out and about for New Year’s Eve festivities, be sure to bundle up as we expect temperatures to dip even further.

Widespread mid-40s are on tap with even some low-40s in spots. These numbers will likely rival a cool blast from last January.

A slow warming trend starts in the afternoon on New Year’s Day, but we still remain on the cool side for the balance of the week!
