South Florida may see coldest temps in 3 years tonight. What about CFP National Championship?

A cooldown is in store for South Florida as a series of cold fronts bring a big drop to the region on Thursday night and Friday through to the weekend.

Cold and windy conditions will settle in quickly on Thursday: there’s already a high surf advisory in play, a freeze warning for Glades and Hendry counties just up the road, and a cold weather advisory for much of our region.

How cold is it going to get?

We are forecasting widespread low- to mid-40s on Thursday night, likely the coldest numbers in three years. Wind-chill vales could drop to 30 degrees.

Friday afternoon temps will drift higher but still remain in the 60s.

How long will the cold stick around?

The weekend will be sunny and a touch cool.

We will see yet another cold front push through on Sunday, and this will set the stage for a fresh CFP National Championship game, when the University of Miami will take on the University of Indiana in Miami Gardens.

Highs will be in the mid-60s, kickoff numbers near 60 degrees and 50s for much of the game.

How cold will it be for the CFP National Championship?

With highs only expected to hit 70 degrees on Monday, kickoff temperatures will be in the 60s with maybe even some 50s by the end of the game.
