Single-vehicle crash along I-95 in Philadelphia kills driver, passenger: Police

Two people died in a single-vehicle crash on I-95 in Philadelphia overnight, police said.

Pennsylvania State Police reported that just after midnight on Friday, January 23, 2026, troopers responded to a crash near mile marker 25.5 on I-95 North in Philadelphia.

Upon arrival, troopers found that both the driver and front seat passenger had died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Police and investigators determined that the vehicle, a black Nissan sedan, was traveling northbound at high speed while navigating a left-hand curve. The vehicle first struck a concrete barrier on the right side of the roadway, then collided with a metal guardrail and other objects on the right shoulder.

During the investigation, northbound I-95 traffic was detoured at the Aramingo exit for an extended period.

PennDOT and PECO responded to address live wires hanging from a damaged utility pole. Police reported that the road was cleared by 6 a.m.
