Sig Alert issued for I-5 after fatal traffic accident
A Sig Alert was issued by CHP Saturday following a fatal accident on the northbound direction of the I-5 Freeway near the Aliso Creek Rest Area.
According to CHP, the call of the fatal crash came in at around 2:30 p.m. The Sig Alert went into effect just before 3 p.m.
The Sig Alert stated that the two left lanes of the northbound I-5 were blocked, causing traffic to be backed up all the way to Oceanside near the SR 76 intersection.
All lanes were back open and the Sig Alert was lifted just before 6 p.m.
It is not yet clear what led up to the collision.
