Showers late Saturday turn to snow late Sunday

Saturday will be mainly dry but cloudy. There could be isolated showers throughout the day, but widespread showers move in at night. The batch of rain Sunday, which eventually mixes with and changes to snow later in the day, ushers in a quick hit of wintry weather early next week. Pretty much all long-range forecast guidance is pointing to some snowfall from Sunday night into Tuesday. Since the ground is still warm, there will be some melting, but at this early point, around an inch is possible across the lower terrain including Buffalo-Niagara Falls metro, and possibly 6-9" on the higher hills of the Southern Tier especially across Chautauqua-Cattaraugus through Tuesday.

SATURDAY: Few Isolated Morning Sprinkles on the hills, otherwise Mainly Dry, Some Breaks in the Clouds, High: 47, Low: 37

SUNDAY: Breezy, Periods of Rain, the Rain Mixes and Changes to Snow by late afternoon and getting into the evening, High: 44, turning colder later afternoon, Low: 28

MONDAY: Cold, Localized Lake Effect Snow, more focused southwest and northeast of the metro, Snow Showers possible in the metro, High: 35, Low: 26

TUESDAY: Cold, Breezy, Lake Snow south of the metro may build northward toward the metro by later in the day, High: 39, Low: 33

WEDNESDAY: Breezy, Some Breaks in the Clouds, Scattered Mixed Showers, High: 44, Low: 35

THURSDAY: Breezy, Mixed Showers mainly north and south of the metro, High: 43, Low: 33
