Several trees fall because of strong wind gusts Friday
Friday’s intensely strong wind gusts caused at least three trees to fall throughout the Philadelphia region.
Crews were busy on Dec. 19 as they had to work to remove the fallen trees and residents dealt with power outages.
Tree crushes SUV in Roxborough
Two people had to be rescued after a large tree fell onto their SUV while they were driving along Henry Avenue in Philadelphia on Friday evening, according to officials.
The tree fell onto the car near the intersection of Henry Avenue and Walnut Lane in the Roxborough section of the city, officials explained.
While rescuing two people from the car, crews had to completely remove the driver’s side door as well as the passenger seat, officials told NBC10.

Both of the people were taken to a nearby hospital and placed in stable condition, NBC10 learned.
Officials were not able to confirm if there were more than two people inside the car at the time.
Henry Avenue at Walnut Lane was closed for several more hours as crews worked to clear the scene because the tree was blocking the roadway.
Cottage roof damaged in Chestnut Hill
A woman was inside her cottage when a tree fell on it in Chestnut Hill.

Apart from the structural damage, the woman and her two pets were able to escape without getting hurt.
She explained that neighbors are always concerned about strong winds knocking down trees in their neighborhood.
