SEPTA offers shuttle buses due to closure of Center City Trolley Tunnel
SEPTA is adding new shuttle buses, starting Monday, for riders impacted by the closure of the Center City Trolley Tunnel.
The buses will operate along the path of the tunnel, which will remain closed through the end of the month.
This tunnel has been closed for repairs after, officials said, replacement sliders that connect trolleys to overhead wires damaged the overhead infrastructure of the tunnel.
Starting Monday, riders impacted by the tunnel closure will be able to use shuttle buses that will operate every 10 minutes, starting at 6 a.m. and running through midnight.
The buses will stop at every trolley stop, including:
- 40th and Market
- 36th and Market
- 33rd and Market
- 30th and Market
- 22nd and Market
- 19th and Market (Eastbound) / 19th and JFK (Westbound)
- 15th and Market
Also, officials with SEPTA said they have been working with the city to improve on-street operation of the trolleys to improve the impact on traffic through University City.
Officials said this work should lead to better traffic flow and more efficient travel through that area for riders.
