Search underway for ‘armed and dangerous’ man accused of shooting a police officer in Raymond, NH
Authorities are searching for a man who they say shot a police officer in Raymond, New Hampshire on Saturday afternoon, officials said.
Officers responding to a report of a man shooting at his family members on Ham Road around 1:30 p.m. located Matthew J. Masse, 38, of Raymond, who allegedly opened fire on them and wounded one of the officers, according to New Hampshire State Police.
Police say Masse, who was wanted in connection with a fire at his family’s home Thursday, ran from the scene with a long gun and a perimeter was immediately established to locate him.
As the search is conducted, residents in the area of Ham Road and Nottingham Road have been asked to shelter in place. All others are asked to avoid the area.
Masse is described as being 5 feet 11 inches and 202 pounds with black hair and hazel eyes. He is believed to be on foot.

In a statement, New Hampshire State Police said, “We know this incident has caused some anxiety among residents and we want everyone to be assured that we are utilizing all available resources to take this suspect into custody. Numerous resources from various law enforcement agencies have been deployed to assist.”
