SD Sheriff's Office holding Prescription Drug Take Back Day: Find your nearest drop-off location
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- The San Diego County Sheriff's Office is participating in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday by opening several drop-off locations in which people can anonymously dispose of unwanted and expired drugs safely.
There will be nine drop-off locations throughout San Diego County from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 25, during which Sheriff's deputies will collect and dispose of expired, unused and unwanted medications free of charge. No sharps, needles or vapes will be accepted.
The following Take Back locations will be open Saturday:
- Alpine Sheriff's Station - 2751 Alpine Boulevard, Alpine
- Imperial Beach Sheriff’s Substation - 845 Imperial Beach Boulevard, Imperial Beach
- San Marcos Sheriff’s Station - 182 Santar Place, San Marcos
- Fallbrook Sheriff's Substation - 388 East Alvarado Street, Fallbrook
- Lakeside Sheriff's Substation - 12365 Parkside Street, Lakeside
- Ramona Sheriff's Substation (Albertson's) - 1459 Main Street, Ramona
- Rancho San Diego Sheriff's Station - 11486 Campo Road, Spring Valley
- Valley Center Sheriff's Substation - 28201 N Lake Wohlford Road, Valley Center
- Encinitas Scripps Hospital - 354 Santa Fe Drive, Encinitas

According to the Sheriff's Office, unwanted or expired drugs can become dangerous to the community by falling into the wrong hands.
If you are unable to make it to one of the drop-off locations on Saturday, you can always drop off unwanted prescriptions at a sheriff's station or substation during business hours.
