San Diego weather: Rain for the New Year

Light rain will move into the county through the day, becoming more widespread this afternoon. Our storm system will be moving in from the Southwest over the next 24 hours. Temperatures will hold steady through the day and stay cooler than yesterday.

Scattered showers will continue overnight and into the new year.

Another area of rain will move in for New Year’s morning with some heavy rain at times and a chance for thunderstorms. Rain totals could be around 0.5” to 1” as of now. Rain will tapper off through the afternoon tomorrow.

Friday will be mainly dry and cloudy as we will be in between 2 storm systems. Our next chance for rain will be Saturday as another storm impacts the West coast.

This active weather pattern will continue across the weekend and into early next week, so we are looking at several days with rain chances ahead.
