San Diego weather: Rain chances increase this afternoon, with some heavy rain
Mostly cloudy skies to start this Friday, rain showers will develop late morning with pockets of rain and thunderstorms can’t be ruled out. The timing will vary with the best chance in the North county late morning, but the south bay will have to wait for rain until mid to late afternoon.
Heavier rainfall totals will favor the north county, we can expect 0.25-0.75″ through the overnight hours. The cold front clears overnight but some light spotty showers may be possible Saturday morning, most areas will be dry.
A High Surf Advisory will remain in effect until 11 a.m. Saturday due to big surf with waves between 5 to 8 feet with swells up to 9 feet specially impacting the south facing beaches. High risk of rip currents, minor flooding, and beach erosion is possible.
The weekend is looking nice and dry with lots of sunshine, but it’ll stay cooler than normal. In fact, Saturday looks like it’ll be the coldest day.
Santa Ana winds will develop on Sunday with dry, gusty winds until Tuesday. Temperatures will be warmer on Monday and Tuesday before the chance for wet weather to wrap up the year.
