San Diego weather: Mostly sunny on Christmas day, with rain moving in at night
Radar is showing much less shower activity now that the bulk of the storm has moved out. A few light spotty, scattered showers are still possible tonight into early tomorrow morning, but the flooding threat has ended. That’s why the Flood Watch was canceled around 8 p.m. Thursday.
Rain totals were highest across the North County across portions of the coast, valleys, and mountain areas. Overall, we picked up some decent rainfall, but amounts came in lower than initially expected and were nowhere near what L.A. and Ventura Counties saw, where many spots picked up impressive amounts between 4 to 9 inches.

For Christmas Day, things look a lot drier with mostly sunny skies, so enjoy the break from the rain.
A secondary storm moves in Thursday night, bringing more widespread rain chances on Friday, but it’s expected to be weaker than the storm we saw on Christmas Eve.

A High Surf Advisory will remain in effect until 11 a.m. Saturday due to big surf with waves between 5 to 8 feet with swells up to 9 feet specially impacting the south facing beaches. High risk of rip currents, and minor flooding and beach erosion is possible.

The weekend is looking nice and dry with lots of sunshine, but it’ll stay cooler than normal. In fact, Saturday looks like it’ll be the coldest day of the week during the day.
