San Diego weather: Gradual cooling with shower chances

Looking ahead to this upcoming week, a significant pattern change is on the way. A gradual cooling trend begins Monday, with even cooler daytime highs expected by next weekend.

As onshore flow strengthens and the marine layer deepens, there is a small chance that we could see some patchy drizzle late Monday night into early Tuesday, and again into Wednesday morning.

Then, a larger and colder low-pressure system moves in late in the week, increasing rain chances from Friday into Sunday. Right now, the best chance for rain looks to be Saturday and Sunday, but confidence remains low on timing, rainfall amounts, and wind strength due to model differences. We’ll have a clearer picture as we get closer.

MONDAY:

  • Coast: mostly sunny; Low 70s
  • Inland: mostly sunny; Mid to low 80s
  • Mountains: sunny; Upper 60s
  • Deserts: Sunny; Low 90s
