San Diego Weather: Gradual cooldown continues Sunday with gusty winds

Just a heads-up—on March 8th, we spring forward for Daylight Saving Time. We’ll lose an hour of sleep, but we get more daylight in the evenings!

On Friday, 11 daily temperature records were broken or tied across various locations, with two — in Escondido and Ramona — setting all-time records for the month of February. It’s impressive to see so many winter heat records, some dating back to the late 1800s.

Saturday’s temperatures were slightly cooler than Friday’s in most areas, but still high enough to break or tie multiple daily high temperature records once again — including one all-time monthly record in Borrego! See the details below

Onshore flow will strengthen tonight and into tomorrow, which will help bring daytime highs temperatures down a bit across the coast, valleys, and mountains but temperatures will still remain unseasonably warm for this time of year. By Sunday afternoon, coastal and valley areas could get a little breezy, with the strongest gusts hitting the mountains and deserts, around 20 to 30 mph.

As we head into Monday, temperatures will drop between 10 and 15 degrees compared to Sunday. It’ll be a noticeable and significant cooldown from one day to the next.

Monday morning could see a little patchy drizzle overnight into the early hours, thanks to a deepening marine layer and stronger onshore winds.

SUNDAY

  • Coast: Mostly sunny – mid 70s to low 80s
  • Inland: Mostly sunny – mid to near 90
  • Mountains: Mostly sunny – low 70s
  • Deserts: Mostly sunny – upper 90s
