San Diego Weather: Drying for the afternoon, more rain tomorrow
SUMMARY
The third and final round of this week’s winter weather will move through on Thursday, bringing more rain, wind, and possible mountain snow.
This round may not have as much moisture, but it will be colder. Light to moderate rain will move in Thursday afternoon. Rain totals will range from about a quarter to half inch for the coast and valleys, and then about a half inch to an inch for the foothills and mountains.
Winds are expected to pick up again Thursday ahead of the rain. A WIND ADVISORY goes into effect at 9am Thursday through 2am Friday for the coast and valleys.
The snow level will drop lower once again, possibly as low as 4,000 feet for Thursday afternoon and evening. So, we can expect more snow for Mt. Laguna and Palomar Mtn. Lower mountain communities, like Julian, may see more of a rain/snow mix, with the chance for a little light accumulation. The WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY remains in effect until Friday morning.
Along the coast, the HIGH SURF ADVISORY is still in effect through Friday night, although waves will be slowly decreasing Thursday and Friday.
The storm will have moved out by Friday, but cool air will still be in place. So, expect chilly mornings on Friday and Saturday. Afternoon temperatures will gradually warm all weekend.
