San Diego weather: Cooling trend starts Sunday with a deeper marine layer

Tonight, the marine layer will continue to deepen extending from the coast to the valleys as a result there is a small chance of patchy drizzle overnight into early Sunday morning and likely again Sunday night into Monday morning.

Tomorrow, we’ll cool down a bit, ahead of a low-pressure system expected to move through central California early this week. That system will bring cooler temperatures and gusty winds for the mountains and deserts from Sunday through Tuesday.

As for rain chances, we could see some light rain showers Monday into Tuesday, with totals around a tenth of an inch with higher totals possible near the foothills and mountains around a quarter of an inch. While the rain isn’t much, it helps our drought and vegetation.

The second half of the week will be much warmer and drier with a temperature different of 20 degrees from Monday to Friday for inland areas away from the coast.

We are starting the month with a full moon, we will have another full moon before the end of the month on May 31st. A second full moon in the same moon is referred to as a blue moon, it happens every 2 to 3 years. Now you why people say, “once in a blue moon”.
