Rear of vacant home collapses on Christmas Day in Philadelphia

Neighbors in Philadelphia’s West Powelton neighborhood woke up to a jarring scene on Christmas morning after the rear portion of a home collapsed.

The collapse happened on 43rd Street.

A neighbor, who spoke with NBC10, said no one has lived in the house for quite some time.

While an NBC10 photojournalist was on the scene, officials from the city’s Department of Licenses and Inspections posted notices saying they plan to demolish what’s left of the house.

At this time, it is unclear why the house collapsed. No injuries were reported.
