Rain, cooler temperatures on the way to San Diego
A 10-year-old western lowland gorilla, named Denny, broke one of the layers of a three-layered tempered glass panel at the San Diego Zoo’s gorilla forest habitat on Saturday, according to a press release from the San Diego Zoo.
The zoo added that Denny was not injured, and that the two gorillas who live in that area of the zoo will be cared for behind the scenes until the panel is replaced.
It is unclear what led up to the breaking of the tempered glass panel.
Earlier this year, in August, the zoo shared that Denny’s older brother, Maka, who was 30 years old died after experiencing a cardiac event. It is unknown if this had anything to do with this incident.
